You Need 1 Centralized System: What to do if you have too many tools and hate using them.

By Brendan SweeneyMarch 7, 20253 min read
Find tools that make doing the job easier, not harder. A centralized system can save time and provide exponential value.

A centralized system may be the medicine for your headaches.

You know it, I know it, the companies that make your tools know it. The only solution is to consolidate into a centralized system. Cut the fluff; just the best tools stay, right?

Well unfortunately for most people selling medical devices, there are tools that you don’t have the luxury of ditching. So how can you consolidate?

    Seek Automation

What’s better than a tool that does the work for you?

Many tools (Like Beacon) are increasingly building artificial intelligence and other automation tools into their platforms to make it easier for you to manage your work.

Why worry about contract pricing when the system will do it for you?

Why spend that time entering a case, when the AI will read a scan of your handwritten bill sheet and do it for you?

Point is, when you’re using your tools to do your job, you rarely have time to stop and figure out how to do what’s new, but just consider that it might save you time and effort in the long run.

    Look for Integrated Tools

You want tools that are going to allow you to do as many things in possible in one place – a centralized system. For instance, Beacon centralizes your customer, inventory, and pricing information so that it is all readily available when you’re making your sales and, wherever possible, is populated automatically.

External Integrations are also a major value point. If you can’t ditch the tool you hate, see if you can connect it to the tools you like so you won’t have to use it as much. Do the work where it makes the most sense for you. Even if you can’t get everything into your centralized system, maybe it can connect to your other tools to reach the same goal.

The best tools make it possible to connect with the other systems you use. They know it will help you cut down on work. and it makes their product more usable (and sticky).

Check to see if your tools allow you to integrate, like Beacon 😉

If you can’t ditch a tool, ditch an activity

Just because you have to submit your cases on a certain tool, doesn’t mean you have to use it for everything!

It’s simple, and maybe you do it already, but you should gravitate to the tools that save you the most time.

Ask yourself, just because I have to submit my cases on one platform, do I need to use it to manage my inventory?

Putting as much of your activity as you can into a centralized system will not just save you time, but allow your data to integrate and draw meaningful links. Data insights and reporting are just the beginning, accessing everything in one place makes you more powerful.

    Vote

If you hate the tool a manufacturer is having you use, let them know. And tell them why. Tell them you want a centralized system.

If you have something you like better, tell them. Give them a demo. Or make an intro to the company.

We’re all looking for the best value and the reality is, not all tools actually deliver on their value. If you can help those upstream from you understand your pain points, it’s easier to work on a solution.

If you’re stuck using tools that just don’t work for you, there are still things you can do to improve the situation. Maybe start by taking our free readiness assessment!
